Antonette - you are lovely! This little lady is so easy to take pictures of! I just knew I would baaarely have to edit anything - because her skin is just that nice, and her eyes are just that green.

Antonette is one of those people who I have always wanted to capture. And oh we had a great time splashing through water, rolling through grass and spinning through fields. We turned into children while taking pictures and soaking in the beauty of the outside!

She is one of the sweetest people I know and is just beautifully kind. I love how Tonette {I've always wanted to call her that....} is so ready to laugh, she is set in her convictions and loves to talk about her God. =) Girl - thank you for letting me take your pictures! I loved every second.

I went to sleep with the sound of rain hitting my window, and I opened my eyes as sunlight poured in between my curtains. I smiled and thought “today. Today is going to be a perfect day.”

Days with time are full of possibility.

Yesterday I finished a lovely book titled “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. If you haven’t picked it up, I encourage you to spend a couple evenings on your favorite couch with a cuppa tea. Not only has it encouraged me endlessly, but also challenged me to “Live fully.” Right where I am.

My every day is now filled with counting my thousands of gifts. The Greek word “Eucharisteo” {meaning Thanksgiving} envelopes the word “Charis” {meaning grace} and holds the word “Chara” {meaning joy}. The discipline of being thankful for each and every gracebrings joy. Oh, you should try it! :)

And so I count my blessings today and start to discover Who can be counted on….

Often my days go out of control. I work two different jobs, and study in-between. I attempt to keep my room clean, and I often forget to eat dinner. As each day passes, I keep reminding myself that there is no easy day. CS Lewis reminds me of this. “If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable. Think of it as a place of training and correction and it’s not so bad.” It is so true! Each day I train and stretch to accomplish more. I am challenged to rein in my feelings of discontent, so that I can live fully. Today.

Oh. I hate homework. I hate to discipline myself to get things I hate doing - done. I definitely dislike sitting down, and plugging through a booooring text book. I hate that I don’t have normal and regular times to study at. Sometimes I hate working. I hate asthma attacks. I hate it when the weather doesn’t match the outfit I planned on wearing. I also hate messes (and, I always seem to leave them. Everywhere).

However. I am disciplining myself to look for blessings. That day I didn’t get much sleep? It’s a blessing. The day I have to sit down extra long to catch up on homework….It’s a blessing. The million messes I have to clean? I am thankful for it.

My Present: Thankfulness {personal}

I have grown, cried, laughed, and loved this weekend. I have been stretched beyond what I thought possible, and I look back with a very thankful heart!

Getting the news that my father was in the ER with chest pain was hard. I never knew so many emotions could swim over me in such a short amount of time, and I couldn't help but feel in denial. no. this could not be happening! Sitting in the hospital room listening to the questions and answers the doctor was sharing was very strange. Both prayers and worries poured out as we all tried to take the information in.

Six years ago we found ourselves in a very similar situation, and instead of chest pain, my dad had Pulmonary Embolism. His lungs were filling up with blood clots, and our family was scared to death. Because of my dad's history with PE, his doctor was more than a little worried that it might happen again. That 24 hour stay in the hospital was filled with tests, tests, and tests - but the results were empty. I am so thankful that God gave my father a strong heart, and that there were no blood clots or that there wasn't any plaque found! So we welcomed my dad home with the good news that the doctors couldn't find anything wrong, but with the fear it might not be over.

When death is around the corner, you talk more than you ever did. And we definitely did that. My older brother flew home for a wonderful surprise visit - and we were all able create a wonderful memory and I wouldn't have wanted anything different! Being completely together for the first time in two months was more than a blessing!

Lesson? Gratitude. The kind that bubbles over and warms anything and everything. What a beautiful life I have been given! What a beautiful family I have! What beautiful-ness. :)

The gift of family is the BIGGEST blessings I have ever been given. :)

I am so ashamed of myself. To say that I have put blogging on the back burner would be the complete truth - something which I plan on changing. One of the bad habits that I have allowed into my little world has been the lack of blogging. I don't want to be hiding my pictures, and I hope to change that - starting now.

Passover starts this coming Friday, and it is easily one of my favorite times of the year. Spring's colors and the beauty that Life brings always places a warm smile on my face. :)
Spring. New Life. Flowers.

One of the prerequisites for Passover is the cleaning. The spring cleaning that cleans out the dust, crumbs, and bad habits from my room and life.

There always should be a balance in priorities. I tend to major on the minors and minor on the majors {however, I need to be doing the viseversa}. Examining my life, not only have I discovered the laziness and slothfulness, but I have also found that in the process of my busy life - I have misplaced my heart. I have placed too much weight on comfort, worrying, praise, and appearance {aka minoring on the majors}. This song has been a huge help to pin point the lumps of 'unwelcomes'.

"Anything I put before my God is an idol.
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol.
Anything I can`t stop thinking of is an idol.
Anything that I give all my love is an idol.
We must not worship something that`s not even worth it.
Clear the stage and make some space for the one who deserves it."

Those words bring two things to mind. First - the many verses that challenge and convict me to place my heart and trust in the One who deserves it. Like Ezekiel 14:3, Exodus 20:3, and 1 John 5:21. Second, it reminds me of one of my absolute favorite quotes: "Take this rule: whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off the relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself." ^Susanna Wesley

That being said - I will be pruning my life and examining my motives and replacing my priorities.

It has been one week since my older brother left. :) One week! It feels like two.

I am not focusing on the negative or melancholy side of life (at least I am trying not to...), and I have found two advantages of having Nic gone.

1. The Bathroom stays cleaner

2. The sweets stay on the counter longer

Don't you agree? Big big reasons to smile. ;)

Before he left, I had a "picture-a-day" challenge with him....I sure love looking at them!

As you all know from my previous post, my older brother Nicolas is leaving. Yes, he is leaving in seven days. It is so hard to believe that in one week our foursome will be broken!

Because I knew that these Four Musketeers would be separated for a while...I asked my amazing photographer friend - Sarah - to take our pictures together. She kindly allowed me to post some pictures here on my blog, but you all should go check her blog out! {also....if you like her on Facebook you miiight just win a gift card!} The biggest reason you should go see her blog post, is because she posted more pictures that you might want to see. :) Be sure to leave a comment and tell her hello from me!!

Anyway. What more can I say? The people below aren't just some of the best people I know. They are the best people I know. I am beyond grateful that I was able to live with my best friends for almost twenty years. The memories I have, the inside jokes we've made, and the name we share are some of the dearest things to me.

Oh, These girls!

Maree and Icia are my favorite twins ever. When I am around them I feel as if God blessed me with younger sisters....and I.Love.It!

Both of them are bubbling with laughter. I have never felt funnier. :) Not only did they make me feel important and talented, but hand down - these two ladies are the most photogenic people I have ever shot. I practically didn't have to tell them what to do. They just smiled, and WOW! They both knew how to be beautiful for me and my camera. :)

Girls - I love you both so much! I pray that God blesses your sixteenth year with many sweet memories! :)

Stay Focused {personal}

Every once in a while, I have to sit down and talk to myself. My father has always stressed the importance of goals - daily goals, monthly goals, yearly goals, and life goals. Almost every day - one or both of my parents will come and ask me, "So Felicia, what's your goal for today?" {Except my mom would say "Eece" :) instead of Felicia} It is always so fulfilling to put a check mark beside an accomplished task. There are many days, however, that those check marks don't get placed in the right spot.

The biggest priorities in my life right now are as follows: God, Family, School, Saving. And there are days that I skip my Prayer time, or I don't save as much as I planned, or I procrastinate my schoolwork...all those things are little failures. I hate failure. Those little failures are all things I do - but I don't want to do them! It reminds me of Romans 7:

"For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. (Romans 7:15 ESV)

When my to-do list isn't completed, and I stare at a long list of things I haven't accomplished, I remind myself: "Felicia, You don't want to waste your life." Yes. The number one life lesson last year {and continuing into this year} is time management. I have to identify my top time wasters: Facebook, my phone, pictures, and so on....all these things distract me from my priorities, and I repeat those words: 'I do not understand my own actions.' And then comes the hard part. Making the fences around the time wasters so I actually do what I want. :) I need to stay focused!

I also need to remind myself that I am a Christian first. Because of my perfectionism, I can easily wake up in the morning with my mental list of school tasks, meetings, appointments, etc. at the forefront of my mind. The job I work, the clothes I wear, my life isn't wrapped up in those things. If I don't have the right mindset....I can start living for the camera I want to buy, or the education I am looking to get.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."

And that is my verse for the Month.

I refuse to waste my life. Alright, Felicia. Don't waste your life. :)

January: random {personal}

The first month of the year has come and gone. Thirty-one days. It seems that every month that passes by, I get to say the exact same thing. WOW that went fast. January is an extra special month for me....because:

{it is the first month of the year.} I love how I can look on the whole year with hope and expectation. There are no big mistakes in it yet, and I love being writing new daily, weekly, and monthly goals.

{the restaurant that I work for is closed for the month of January.} :) This means that I have more reading time on my hands, there is a lot more family time and breathing room is allowed.
     Two books that I especially enjoyed are:
            1. God's pursuit of Man {A.W. Tozer}
            2. "Cool Stuff" They Should Teach in School {Kent and Kyle Healy}
     Amazing reads, and if you are a book worm like me - you will especially love them. :)

Below I have posted extremely random pictures of my month (from my phone). In no specific order you will see that:

Studying is a daily habbit
My favorite soundtrack has been Braveheart {though I don't think I could ever watch the movie...}

Snow is a beautiful part of winter

God has blessed me with wonderful friends
I took my first bike ride of the year! :) It was lovely.
I have been able to talk with amazing couples who have been married for a long time!

One of the "loves" that isn't captured in the pictures are the many hours I have spent listening to sermons. I have stumbled upon some very convicting and inspiring preachers. I know that you would be blessed by taking some time to listen, learn, and glean from these men.

Big Brother: Nicolas {up close and personal}

If you know my family well - the first thing you would probably notice is that "the kids" are best friends. One explanation for this is that we are all a year apart. My brothers have the same Birthday......June 8th. Nicolas was born in 1990, and Jacob in 1994. We grew up doing absolutely everything together and it didn't really feel like there was an age gap between us.

Inseparable. That is how I see us, and that is how many people see us. Just last night I was told..."I couldn't imagine you four not together." That's just it. We haven't really ever been apart. Sure - I've been on a week vacation before. Just last year my sister and I went to Texas, and upon arriving home we found that my brothers painted a special message on our bedroom walls. It said "WELCOME HOME! WE LOVE YOU!!!!" Valerie and I kept it up for 2 months. We just couldn't paint over it. :) But that is it, we have only ever been separated for those one week increments. Those rare vacations that we are separated.

I am so thankful that my mother always stressed how important it was for us to be friends. Friends meant more than the typical friend. We have spent hours talking about feelings, secrets, beliefs, morals, challenges, and the list goes on and on..... I can probably bet that us "kids" have talked more together, and about weirder subjects and deeper issues than any other siblings normally do. Hands down.

These people are my best friends.

Well, I had to give you all a bit of background before I told you the real purpose of this blog post. :) Obviously at some point in my life, there will have to be a change. I mean, it would be weird if us four siblings lived in the same house......forever. {now that I think about it.....Jacob mentioned that when we are in our 80s we should move into the same nursing home....wouldn't that be fun!?!?!?} Okay. Seriously. We won't be in our 30s living together. And I need to remember that.

Just yesterday, my older brother was accepted for an internship with CollegePlus! in Washington State! Would you like me to say that again? Washington State. {that is a 19 hour drive away.} I am sooooper excited for him! He will have the rest of his education paid for, as well as get paid hourly to be an intern! But the other part of me cringes. It is SOOO far away! Too far. It wouldn't matter so much if it wasn't so long. He will be gone for eighteen big months.

Man o man will I miss him. Nic is my older brother....that amazing guy who I can hide behind when I need protection. The guy who loves to have "study dates" with me at the library. {we tend to sing our special song together in the car.....loud.} We have mutual frozen yogurt taste buds that we tend to spontaneously feed. Just today he came up to me and asked if he could clean the bathroom with me - just to be with me. :) Oh, and let's not forget the "hand delivered fresh-squeezed orange juices" just.for.me. I am so incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful brother. Man o man will I miss him.

In 2 weeks, he will be packed and driving to the far away land called Washington. Until that day, I am doing "a picture a day" challenge with him. :) Below you can see a couple that I have already taken. I loooove looking at them.

Aaaaaand. I just had to add some older pictures. Because I love looking at us together. :)

So there you have it. I normally don't post this 'up close and personal' ...but I will definitely enjoy looking back on this post in days, weeks, and years to come and remember my wonderful big brother that my amazing God blessed me with. For almost 20 years!

Ah, Sarah Friend is graduating!

Yes. It is true. And not only is the "smart" word put on a list titled "Sarah Morgan"....So are -
1. Funny
2. Talented
3. Kind
4. Too Good {believe me. I never feel good when I am beside her}
5. Dimples. {this has it's own category.}

This last week, I had the honor of taking here senior pictures. To say that I enjoyed myself would be an 'under.exaggeration'. :) I got stuck in the mud and Sarah hugged wheels and splashed through water...because I was the photographer. No. Because I said so.

If you follow my blog close enough, you will recognize this lady's face. Yes yes yes. You will see her here, here, and she has her own blog here! Not only was it one of the most enjoyable shoots ever {I think she made me laugh way way way more than I could ever make her laugh....} but it was probably one of the easiest as well. Sarah is a photographer, and she understands so much about how a portrait should look. As you will see: Sarah.Rocked.These.Pictures!!!

19 days into Twenty Twelve.

13 days of silence.

It is so weird to think so much time has passed. I feel like a complete slacker, and I have tried to feel guilty, but it is no use. I have enjoyed this new year immensely! I can hardly believe that nineteen days have come and gone. Delicious memories and exciting anticipation wrap up my feelings at this moment. The year Twenty Twelve has so much hope in it, I can't help but look forward to each and every month, and the adventure that seems promised as I dream of goals, make plans, and hope for....hope for that lovely adventure this life will be.

As each year comes - I rewrite goals and make small new years' resolutions. {one of which I have named, "no sugar for two months." Yes. And since then I have heard songs of chocolate and dreamt dreams of cake.....}

Anyway, I say this because I thought I would share some exciting news with my dear blog readers! Sometime this summer, my sister and I shall be traveling to Quebec, Canada for a "study abroad". For one month, I will be studying the lovely French language! And I honestly can hardly believe it will happen!

So, as God continues to write my year, you all may look forward to the many pictures that will grace my blog in the future. :) May each of you have a marvelous Twenty Twelve!

What an amazing year it has been! [July 2011 through December 2011] As I look through the pictures I have taken, I continue to see growth and I look back on all of them with pride. I am so happy with all that God has blessed me with! At the beginning of last year, I never would have thought that I would be sitting here talking about my photography. I never would have thought that I would have a Facebook page, or assist weddings.

And yet, here I am.

I am so thankful for today, and I am so grateful for last year. Below I posted one picture from each of my photo sessions, and I hope you enjoy!

December Favorites {personal}

Not only has a month come and gone......but also a year.

It is so weird! I have been meaning to write this blog post, but as I sit here thinking of my month favorites, I realize that I don't have many. Most of my favorites are with the anticipation of next year (aka - next month). That being said, I am going to have my skimpy month favorites and then follow them up with my future favorites for next year!

Book: I read 3 books, but I didn't have a favorite. :/
Memory: Chanukkah!

And the answer is no.

I did not drop off the face of blog world. I have legitimate reasons for not blogging recently! I have had a bad computer virus, which crippled my computer time.....aaaaand on top of that - it is Hanukkah!

This time of year is my favorite. "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" I love hearing all of the carols and hilarious Christmas music. I love seeing lights and snow. And I especially love remembering God's many amazing miracles, which includes that special year that the Light of the World was born.

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it….the true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.” ^John 1:4-5, 9

Chanukkah is all about having such a strong faith that you are willing to die for it. It is about rededicating yourself for God and God alone. MMMmmmm, I can't say enough how I love this season! {and don't forget the amazing fried food, and the chocolate, and the chocolate that we get to eat 8 days in a row!!!!}

Tiffany contacted me because she needed some head shots for a modeling/acting opportunity. I was thrilled about the possibility of photographing the cute little bubbly girl from work, and not only was I able to get the head shots she needed, but also some shots I have desperately been wanting to try. :)

I absolutely love how her portrait session turned out! We had a lovely time, and Tiffany was so amazing and put up with all of my fun experiments! :) One of the things that I love most about Tiffany is her bubbly, optimistic attitude. She is always smiling, and it rubs off! I made this girl trudge through the snow and brave the cold December weather, but in the end it was worth it!

I am back.
It feels weird sitting here blogging, trying to explain my absence. :) November was a lovely month. I have a feeling this post will be long, because if there was such a thing as an "overflowing month", that would be November for me.

What happened? (you may ask.....) Well:
-I went to Florida for a week for vacation
- I turned 19
-I painted my room
-I went to Florida for Thanksgiving to visit my grandparents
-My dad's birthday

Oh, and those things are all just icing. That doesn't iclude work, college, and the occasional sibling time or "organizing date with myself."

November
Week One

Doesn't it look like paradise? It was my first time at the beach. Well, technically, my first time was when I was 6....but I don't really remember it. So, I like to say it was my first time. That week was filled with Disney World, Busch Gardens, The Beach, Meeting lovely and inspiring people, and spending it with These people.

November :
The Last Week

This last week of November was spent with these people.

To say that I had a fabulous time would be an understatement! I really enjoyed speaking French for a week (I am getting pretty good! ;) The week was filled with listening to the experiences and wisdom of both of my grandparents. The subjects ranged from education down to respect, and I loved every part of our chats. I also went shopping on Black Friday for the first time! (what an experience. I had to learn the art of agressive walking....)
Best memory of the trip:

Haha. I still laugh when I think of it. All week my Grandpapa was teasing me about eating too much (I was on vacation, so that makes it ok, right????). I kept refuting by saying "Je ne suis pas un cochon, Grandpapa!" Meaning: I am not a pig! Well, because of my big mouth, I was dubbed "le petit cochon"/ the little pig - for the week. The entire week. Towards the end, however, my Grandpapa remembered a movie with a pig in it. {Have any of y'all seen Babe?}SOOOoooo, half the time I was "Le Petite Cochon" and half the time I was "Babe". Honestly, I didn't mind being called Babe. ;) I could get used to it.

I already miss the thick French accents. The ones that call Michael Buble - Bubley. The ones that can't pronounce "th" - so Happy Birthday becomes Happy Birday. The ones that mix French with English. Oh, those special faces! Next year can't come soon enough!

Oh, and of course there was my birthday (left) and my amazing father's birthday (right) last month! We are 30 years apart, so it is always easy to remember my dad's BIG number!

Thanksgiving | Jour de l'Action de grâce {personal}

Je suis reconnaissante pour ma famille.

This year, I am spending Thanksgiving in Florida. It is my first Thanksgiving outside of my lovely Colorado, and the first year spending it with my wonderful Grandparents. My grandparents are from Quebec, Canada - and so tonight we all took turns saying what we were thankful for....in French.

Would you like to know what all 5 of the people at the dinner table said? It all stems back to one word: family. We all expressed it a little differently, but we still all came out and said it. Je suis reconnaissante pour ma famille.

And I have to admit - that is what my entire month has been. I am so very thankful for the amazing life that God truly has blessed me with. Even though tonight was definitely non-traditional. There was no Turkey, no stuffing, and no pecan pie...but there was a Grateful spirit.

Since arriving in Florida, I have been surprised how much I understand and how much I can speak French. Being able to communicate in another language has been so amazing - I honestly can't think of a word that effectively communicates how I feel! :) I am trying to soak up and listen to every splinter of conversation that I can! One day. I WILL be completely fluent. It has been wonderful hearing 2 thick English accents that pronounce whole as wole, and say grandladies instead of grandchildren. :D

I am so behind on blog posts, but I am still hoping to post a recap of my first Florida vacation, along with a couple other small tidbits. But, until then - Happy Thanksgiving!!

Meet Elizabeth. I don't even know where to begin to talk about this beautiful friend! :) Elizabeth is one of my very dear friends....and getting to write her a blog post won't really begin to explain how amazing she is.

First of all, Elizabeth is one of the kindest people I know. I am always challenged to be better when I am around her. This girl is also such a servant and is always looking for ways to bless people that God brings in her path. I looooove that about her. The time is always short when we are together. ;D

I had so much fun taking some pictures of my flower. =) The pictures are short and sweet, but I think y'all will enjoy them!

Meet my little me - Patricia. =) This girl has an extra special spot in my heart....and it is easy to love this girl to pieces! We call each other 'icia' (because that is the end of both of our names).

One of the things I love the most about Patricia is that she is so happy. It is a genuine happy and I am not very good at describing it. Watch her pictures. The joy in her eyes and her special laugh are easy to point out! Out of everyone I know, Patricia is one of the most thoughtful. Anything she can do to spread the joy, she will do. Sometimes it is as simple as a hug, and sometimes it is spending hours over a project with the thought of blessing.

I am still blown away when I look at this first sequence. Can you believe those eyes? They have to be the deepest, bluest, and most sincere eyes ever.
